Our Story

From a village chulha to a riverside courtyard.

Every recipe carries the rhythm of garba nights, the warmth of mud-walled kitchens, and the patient hands of women who painted rangoli. We cook the way Kathiyawad has cooked for centuries — over wood, with whole spices, and a generous heart.

Head chef Kaki at the chulha

જમુના કાકી

Head Chef · since 1994

Meet our Dadi

Behind every bite, a grandmother's hand.

"જમવાનું પ્રેમ થી જ બને છે." — Food only tastes right when it is made with love. I cook for every guest the way I cook for my own family.

Jamuna Kaki has run the Pravah Riverside chulha for three decades. Every spice blend, every dough, every dal still passes through her hands before it reaches your plate.

The Ritual

Five centuries, four steps.

રસોઈ ની વિધિ

Every dish travels the same ancient path — from the earth, through the fire, onto your plate.

Spice ritual
  1. 01

    Sunrise sourcing

    પ્રાતઃ સામગ્રી

Vegetables and grains arrive each dawn from farms within 50km of the Tapi. Spices are hand-picked from village markets across Saurashtra.

  2. 02

    Stone ground

    પથ્થર ની ચક્કી

We grind our garam masala fresh every morning on a stone sil-batta — never an electric blender. The aroma is the proof.

  3. 03

    Wood-fire cooked

    ચુલા પર

Slow flames from babul wood coax out flavours no gas burner can. Every dal simmers for at least four hours.

  4. 04

    Served with care

    બે હાથે પીરસવું

Atithi devo bhava. We plate every thali by hand, with the warmth of a home that's been waiting for you.
